GQ
I am a little angry and going to use my BLOG to tell about it!
In a recent online article on GQ's website they attempt to enlighten us on the "40 Worst-Dressed Cities in America". While this particular article is not some thing that would normally catch my eye, all i have to do is go to my local mall to see JUICY or PINK written across some one's booty, a comment on one of it's cities DID.
“[Boston] is a bad-taste storm sewer…[Boston] suffers from a kind of Style Down Syndrome, where a little extra ends up ruining everything.”
And THIS is where I lose it!
Really? there were NO other words the so called journalist ...—John B. Thompson....could use? He had to refer to Bostonians as suffering from "Down Syndrome". Well I have to say I have not known my child or any other child with DS as suffering with DS. And that "little extra" he likes to throw in there is actually what makes my DS child special. I do not see her a "ruined" or any other child with DS as ruined.
I know that the statistics are HIGH for people choosing to abort when they find out there is a chance they are having a DS child, but they are missing out. They are missing out on the most rewarding experience of a lifetime..and while I realize that having children is not always rewarding. They can down right drive you nuts sometimes (or a lot of times) but a typical child can do the same IF NOT MORE! I also know that it took me a while to come to this conclusion, and while I can honestly say there are days I am not 100% there, I would never trade my Trinity for a typical child. I have been blessed with 2 of God's Angels.
I realize that my rant follows no pattern, I am putting this to "ink" prior to letting it marinate...so please bear with me.
A few other friends have posted about this and Noah's Dad has a picture of the "Unedited article"...plus read HIS letter to the Editor.
Here are a few other "Professional" takes on the Article...
