MISS KAYLA!!!
Kayla is the wonderful Mommy we met in our "Mommy and Me" class last January. She is also the amazing writer that came out to interview our family for her first article spotlighting a family. AND she is the FANTASTICAL 2nd "Mommy" to our Trinity!
When Kayla and I first met I had no idea that God was putting her in my path for a reason, I didn't find this out until the interview session in July. When Kayla came out to interview us she had lots of questions for us, but all you guys know I like to talk so I always had one back for her. As she talked about her Austin (a CUTIE!!!) and about her being a K teacher, and all the research she has done on DS I got excited. I could also tell she was an amazing advocate for her son who is almost one year older than Trinity. When we said our goodbyes and she walked out the door I practically RAN back to Washington and said "What do you think about Kayla watching Trinity?" with out hesitation he said YES! So out the door I went bounding down the steps and across the sidewalk and practically threw myself on her car. To my relief she did not think I was a psycho and she got excited about the idea too. After checking with her husband, she said yes.
Ok so I am not going to lie, and I know Kayla will probably see this, but I then became nervous. Had I done the right thing? I barely knew these people...had I just lost my mind? Kayla invited us over to see her home and meet her husband. All very nice, but still I had a feeling on if I was doing the right thing.. When I picked who I was going to leave Tristan with I did so much research that I almost quit my job to stay home and here I was going off a basic instinct that I could trust this woman and now her family.
Washington dropped Trinity off the first morning, Kayla lives a bit further than we had been driving, and I headed off to work. I thought about trinity that day and wondered what she was doing and how things were going...I was SUPER excited to pick her up. When I got to Kayla's there sat my pretty girl all snuggled up with Kayla and it made me smile. As I was leaving Kayla handed me a sheet of paper and I almost fainted! Kayla had made a cute sheet to track "Miss T's Day" and it had things like - when she arrives, how much milk she had and when, what kind of diapers she had and when they were changed, nap times, foods eaten, her mood for the day, the book they read and what she had fun doing. In that moment I KNEW I had done the right thing. I went down to my car, loaded Trinity up and just sat there and cried. I have not regretted or worried for 1 minute ever her being with Kayla. She helps us with Trinity's OT and PT appts, she keeps us informed with every little thing, she sends pictures and videos, she works her out daily and she CHEERS my baby on like she was her own!
THANKS KAYLA!!!!!
Today has been a wonderful, amazing, fantastical kind of day...
The Mommy

Aww you are so sweet! I do love Trinity as if she were my own...and it's truly rewarding to watch her do new things, grow and thrive. Not to mention, we have "girl time", which is always fun. Thank you for your kind words! And for allowing me to be part of Miss T's life.
ReplyDeleteAwe! That is wonderful that you found such an amazing person to take care of her! :)
