Cooking lesson #1

Today Tristan asked if he could help me in the kitchen. Since I was making Tuna salad I figured this would be an easy way for him to help with stirring and measuring things.  I got out all the ingredients that I use: Tuna fish, mayo, pickles, celery, onions, salt and ???. He put the tuna in the bowl while I cut up our fresh ingredients. After this he dumped in the fresh ingredients, we measured out the mayo and then he stirred it in. I sprinkled in some salt while he kept stirring and then remembered what that ???? item was I forgot. PEPPER! I turned around and got the pepper out and sprinkled that in. After all was done I got spoons out for us to try it. Tristan was not too sure about eating it which should have been my 1st clue, however it was NOT! So in goes my spoon and I scoop up a nice helping, pop it in my mouth and bbbbblllllllleeeeeecccckkkkk!

The Mommy: "Oh My Stars Tristan!! That tastes awful!!"
Mr T: "Does it need more salt Mommy?"
The Mommy: "NO, it has plenty of salt!"
Mr T: "Oh, want me to show you how I did it?"
The Mommy: "Did what honey?" (as I am trying to find something to clean my mouth out with.
Mr T: "How I added the salt!"

UGH! While I had my back turned for a few seconds to grab the pepper he had managed to open the salt, DUMP it in and somehow close it back without me seeing. I tried adding more tuna, but I think I would have had to buy 4 more WHOLE fish to cover that salt!

He was so pleased with himself for helping though.

I just told him thanks, put saran wrap on it and put it in the fridge till I could dump it without him seeing. From now on I will keep my eyes on the salt at all times!

Today was a salty kind of day...
