Buddy Walk for Down Syndrome

WELCOME, BIENVENIDOS!

This is our first year for the Buddy Walk and we are excited to get going!

As you know our daughter was born with Down syndrome and it was not something we knew prior to birth.  At first this was devastating news to us, but quickly this became one of the best things that has ever happened to our family. God gave us a miracle and her name is Trinity.

What is the Buddy Walk?

The Buddy Walk® is an annual walk that helps to raise funds to support the programs offered by the Down Syndrome Guild of Dallas, including educational seminars for families of school age children, parent to parent support, options for adults, and social events for all ages.

We hope you will take some time to find out more about Down Syndrome or feel free to ask us questions.

Fact about Down syndrome ...

Down syndrome is usually caused by an error in cell division called non disjunction. It is not known why this occurs. However, it is known that the error occurs at conception and is not related to anything the mother did during pregnancy. It has been known for some time that the incidence of Down syndrome increases with advancing maternal age. However, 80% of children with Down syndrome are born to women under 35 years of age.

THANK YOU for taking the time to visit our blog.  If you have time, check out our fundraising page for TRINITY's TROOPS and sponsor our efforts in meeting our fundraising goal.

Thank you,
Rachel, Washington, Tristan and Trinity

People with Down Syndrome - valued and included.
