Trinity holds her bottle...

People are always telling me DON'T treat Trinity differently than you would any other child. For the most part I guess we don't, although there isn't much to "reprimanding" a baby, right...who does that?!?!

So here is the thing. Our plan (for now) is that she is our last child so doesn't every parent kind of baby and hang on to the last one just a little bit longer? I honestly believe this though because you are always much harder on the 1st one because everything is "new" and by the time the 2nd one gets there you realize that all that freaking out, all that over preparing, all that SANITIZER was mostly for not! With that said Trinity is almost a year old (just a few more days!!) and we were still holding her bottle. This allowed me to be close to her and cuddle etc. Granted, yes she was not ready to hold it on her own at the same age that Tristan did, but I am aware that she could have been doing it for a while now.

Well out of frustration comes action! I had finally gotten to a point where I thought enough is enough. I need her to be a little independent so that Mommy can multitask some. I want to be able to put her in her chair, let her drink her bottle and me wander around doing dishes etc while still maintaining a conversation with her.

Tonight was the night. I told Washington "I am going to start teaching her to hold her bottle...OK?" I even made sure to tell him in front of her cause I know she understands me...she maybe stubborn and ignore me, but she understands!

I put her bottom in her chair, put the bottle in her mouth, put her hands to the bottle AND......... she dropped it! I did not give up. I looked her right in the eye and said "Trinity, Mommy needs you to hold this yourself." she looked right at me AND....... dropped it! I then said to her "Ok, you better learn how to do this, cause this is it...I am serious, I mean it!" I put it back in her mouth, put her hands back on the bottle AND......she dropped it, BUT this time instead of sitting there just looking at me she reached down, picked it up and shoved it in her mouth and happy as a little lark drank her milk!

We are starting out with the small bottles and will build up to the 4 oz then the 6oz and 8oz.  Little stinker could probably do this the whole time, but if mommy will do it for you then why bother..:) I am so proud of my baby girl! Makes me wonder though....what ELSE can she do and it just holding out on me for?
